A much sunnier day, with a slight breeze and a lot more birds about. Main highlights late morning, early this afternoon were the Yellow-browed Warbler and 2 Goldcrests in Penns Wood, a Black Redstart, 11 Rock Pipits, 1 Grey Wagtail and a Pied Wagtail at the cove, plus at the back of the cove a Chiffchaff again.
And the one that got away though, as I was stood on the beach, was a raptor, which could well have been a female Goshawk making its way south over Penns Wood. It was certainly large!!
And with sun were 3 juvenile Wall Lizards basking in the grounds of St Andrew's Church
Here are a few images and videos from today:
And in the northeast corner of the cove a Black Redstart appeared today.
Is it the overwintering bird. Possibly, but it does have a wander every now and then.
There were a few Rock Pipits on the beach today.
There were Kelp Flies about, but only in isolated spots along the beach. This Rock Pipit is playing the waiting game.
This is a 1st Winter Pied Wagtail with a yellowish face and.............
...........it has found a great spot where there are 100's of Kelp Flies.
And it was sunnier enough for these 3 Wall Lizards to be out basking in the sun.
These 3 are all juveniles.
I didn't see any adults, but if its dry and sunny for a few days, they might venture out.
Ted is looking more like a Sheep everyday. It will be the hairdressers for him soon.
