The forecast was for light showers this afternoon, so it was up fairly early and down to Penns Wood to see if the Yellow-browed Warbler was about. And sure enough as I arrived it put in an appearance. Not as vocal as it was yesterday, but still very active in the tree tops. Also in the wood at least 2 Goldcrests.
Elsewhere it was fairly quiet and along with a small party of Long-tailed Tits at the back of the cove was a Chiffchaff again. And for the second day running a Peregrine Falcon was back over Easton again.
I didn't check the Lower Horse paddock today, as unfortunately I lost the rubber eye-piece to my binoculars and ended up going back up to the wood and then back down to the beach and back again. Needless to say I didn't find it, but at least I got to see the Yellow-browed Warbler on 3 visits to the wood.
Here are a few images and videos from a very gloomy day.
Great to see the Yellow-browed Warbler in Penns Wood for a second day.
Not the best of images on a very murky day.
Here it is preening and then off in search of a meal.
Here it is eating an insect and then just before it flies off, it emits a call, which I've not heard before.
The only birds on the beach today were a Wren and this Herring Gull. No Rock Pipits, wagtails or Black Redstart today.
A good jump but whoops........
............Ted nearly does a nose dive.
