Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Bumpers Lane, Rufus Castle, Church Ope Cove, St Andrew's Church and Penns Wood

It's been awhile, but at long last a decent highlight on my walk, with a very vocal Yellow-browed Warbler in Penn's Wood, where there was also a Goldcrest present

Elsewhere there were 20 Meadow Pipits, 1 Pied Wagtail, 2 Starlings and a Robin in the Lower Horse Paddock, with a further 9 Meadow Pipits in the Butterfly Reserve (West).

I spotted a Peregrine Falcon passing over Easton and watched it going into a steep and very rapid dive towards Broadcroft Quarry. I should imagine a feral pigeon was probably on the menu.

At the cove the Black Redstart was still present, but at the southern end of the beach, and a Chiffchaff was behind the beach huts along with a small flock of Long-tailed Tits. Also on the beach were 2 Rock Pipits again.

On Penn's Weare before the copse I came across the remains of a bird. Not that there was much left, but what was on the ground were some very colourful feathers and some grain!!

An unusual sighting for this time of year, was coming across a Bloody-nosed Beetle on the path behind the Alessandria Hotel and Lower Horse paddock.

Here are a few images and videos from today:

As I walked up through Penns Wood, I couldn't believe my ears as this Yellow-browed Warbler was calling away non-stop.

This Autumn started off pretty well with a few Yellow-browed Warblers and Pallas's Warblers on the island, and then they all dried up........

.......until today that is. I could certainly hear, but tracking it was pretty difficult. So not much to see I'm afraid. Hopefully a long-stayer.

We seem to have a few overwintering Meadow Pipits in the Lower Horse Paddock. There were 20+ here this afternoon and...............

.........and 9 in the Butterfly Reserve just over the fence to the north.

And a bit of a surprise was coming across this beetle. At first I thought it might be a Bloody-nosed Beetle, but somehow it just seems different and I have only come across them along the Weares, this beetle was on the track leading up to the Lower Horse Paddock.

The remains of an unidentified bird. When I initially saw the red feathers my first thought was Black Redstart, but...........

........now that I have them all laid out, its safe to say it wasn't Black Redstart.

There are some really interesting colours and patterns.

And a third pattern

There is a lady I have seen walking along the wear's and coastal paths, who every now and puts a handful of bird food on the ground or certain rocks along her walk. So possibly the deceased bird (above) was feeding on the grain and became dinner for something else. Kestrel maybe. All I've got to do now is identify the bird from the feathers. That should be interesting!

Note: The feathers are from a Pheasant. Thank you to my good friend Ed Wilson for ID'ing them for me. And also thank you to both Matt Ames and Dan Brown on Twitter, who also confirmed Pheasant. Cheers 👍

Ted certainly has a spring in his step and having..........

......realised that I had left him behind, was sprinting as fast as his little legs would go, to catch me up. Reminds me of a film I once watched. Run Ted Run.
