Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve and Broadcroft Quarry Lane

What an awful morning as wave after wave of rain and hail hammered the island. There didn't seem to be any let up, other than a 45 minute spell early afternoon, and then it all started again. At least Ted and I managed that window of opportunity for a walk.

A couple of highlights on our brief walk, a lone Wheatear and 2 Stonechats in the lower Horse paddock, was the best I could do, before the rain came down again.

Overhead were just a handful of Meadow Pipits, with a few stopping over in the paddock. No Siskins, warblers or hirundines seen or heard.

Here are a few images and videos from today:

Well this is what greeted us all on Portland and Weymouth this morning. Shower after shower coming off the sea. And heavy showers at that.

A 360 panoramic view from almost the centre of the Lower Horse Paddock.

Just the one Wheatear in the paddock today.

I just managed to spot this Stonechat in the brambles, a second bird was close by.

A very obliging Meadow Pipit and in pristine condition. And those unmistakeable orange legs

Just a short video of it feeding and calling.

The view to the north. Bright blue sky, well a little bit.

And looking Southwest, the rain it be coming.

Ted sporting his weatherproofs.

And here he is on the trail of a Fox, though fortunately he gave up.
