Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve and Broadcroft Quarry Lane

It took awhile but eventually there was a break in the weather mid afternoon and an opportunity to get a walk in before it rained again. And Ted and I timed it to perfection, as we got home the heavens opened.

Main highlights today were a pair of Stonechats in the reserve, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcaps and 30+ Meadow Pipits in the Lower Horse Field and another Chiffchaff and Blackcap in the Lane.

Today there were no Wheatears, House Martins or Swallows seen, however more Siskins were noted heading north.

It was considerably cooler today, so it was no surprise to see fewer Ivy Bees on the Ivy in the reserve.

Here are a few images and a video from today:

The Lower Horse Paddock as seen from Broadcroft Quarry Lane

In the Butterfly reserve were these Stonechats. This is the male and........

.........the female. Both photos taken in very poor light.

And a short video of the male Stonechat.

One of the many Robins along my walk

And another, with most of them singing

There's never a Kestrel to far away, especially at this time of year, when the birds are migrating.

Just a few Ivy Bees seen today.

These are the only ones I have found on the reserve and they have now moved further back in the hedgerow to a new bloom of Ivy flowers.

And the view looking south towards the English Channel and the old houses in Wakeham.

Ted's found something, probably a Bunny knowing him.
