Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Bumpers Lane, The Cuttings, Rufus Castle, Penn's Copse, Penn's Weare, Church Ope Cove, St Andrew's Church and Penns Wood.

A real change in the weather today with fog enveloping the island well into late afternoon.

Only 1 migrant seen, a Chiffchaff in Bumpers Lane Quarry. and the only other highlight was a single Rock Pipit at the cove.

Just one butterfly seen a Small White by Rufus Castle. Also seen a moth by The Cuttings.

A few bees noted, including 3 Ivy Bees, but with the wind blowing a right hooley it proved too difficult to photograph them. Lots of hoverflies though, especially on the flowering Ivy.

It was the first time I had been down to the beach in months and it was great to find that the Slow-worms are doing well in their usual spot by the beach huts.

Here are a few images and videos from today:

Fog or Low Cloud, either way...........

........it was pretty miserable

Close to The Cuttings I came across this.......

...............Ruddy Streak (Tachystola acroxantha) or is it a Large Grey (Scoparia subfusca)

So many hoverflies about. This is a Dead Head Hoverfly

A very quiet Church Ope Cove and great to see........

..........after avoiding the beach for the past few months, that the Slow-worms are still present by the huts.

This is a White Chilean Potato Vine and a plant which is held in high regard. I came across it overhanging a wall on the footpath alongside the Lower Horse Paddock. More on this plant Here.

Ted definitely appreciated the cool conditions and revisiting the cove.

So much so he was off to explore old ground.

Now it's not often Ted will venture into the Japonica's in Penns Wood, but something got his attention. Believe me this is a very short video of what lasted a good 3 or 4 minutes and ended up with him giving out a really loud yelp. Not sure what he did or found but he eventually came out unharmed. We will never know!!

Ships Today

I'm not 100% certain that this is the British Yacht "Fulmar" as there isn't a photograph to confirm it. However the timings are pretty close to when it sailed past Church Ope Cove from Dartmouth to Portland Harbour. Plus it was the only yacht to be seen in the fog. More on this vessel Here.
