Lower Horse Paddock, Higher Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve (West) and Broadcroft Quarry Lane

A very warm afternoon, so just a short walk with Ted around the Horse Paddocks, Butterfly Reserve and then the lane.

And some good highlights with 5 Whinchat and a Spotted Flycatcher, along the fence line between the Reserve and Lower Horse Paddock.

Overhead 5 Siskin and several Meadow Pipits flew north and in the opposite direction a Tree Pipit and a dozen or so Swallows headed down the island.

Also noted were the Ivy Bees still active around the Ivy in the hedgerow between the Higher Horse Paddock and the Reserve.

Here are a few images.

The Lower Horse Paddock with the Butterfly Reserve just beyond the fence and brambles

And looking back from the reserve to the paddock with 2 Whinchat sat on the fence.

One of the five Whinchat.

This one here was surrounded by butterflies and other.......

..........flying insects.

And a different profile shot.

And a lone Spotted Flycatcher, which seemed to........

.........enjoy sitting on the Buddleia.

There is always a Carrion Crow close by. In fact very........

..........close.

And the Ivy Bees are doing very well this year.

Also on the Ivy were many Turnip Sawflies which have turned their attentions to the flowers here and not the umbellifers they were on a few weeks ago. Coming into land a hoverfly, possibly a Tapered Dronefly.

And there is always a mystery fly. Not sure if I'm going to be able to ID it from just the one image

Keep up Ted.
