Southwell and Culverwell

And so the migrants keep rolling in. This morning I came across a male Ring Ouzel just past the farm buildings here at Southwell. Sadly I didn't have a chance to photograph it, but through the binoculars it was clearly a male. Also in this area were a Sedge Warbler, Blackcaps, Chiffchaff, 1 male Stonechat, 2 Common Buzzards, Sparrowhawk and 3 Wheatears (the latter seen by another observer).

At Culverwell another Sedge Warbler and lots of Blackcaps, Chiffchaff and a few more Willow Warblers. Also here Blue Tit, Goldfinch and always nice to see Greenfinch.

Along the tracks there were countless numbers of Red Admirals on the flowering ivy. On one part of the track the ivy was alive with Honey Bees as well.

Here are a few images from today.

A male Blackcap at Culverwell.....

.........and another at Southwell......

......where there was also this Buzzard.

Every Ivy that was in flower was a magnet for dozens of Red Admirals.....

.......and this worn Painted Lady.
