Wakeham

Can the weather get any worse! It rained all day and apparently will continue throughout the night.

So it was another day at home and apart from retrieving the Trail Camera, which I set up over the pond overnight, that was my only venture outside today. Needless to say that didn't go down well with Benji and Ted.

The only thing the Trail Camera picked up was this scruffy Magpie which walked around for a few seconds before leaving. I couldn't even tell what time that was, as the camera had defaulted back to the manufacturers setting and according to the video data, the Magpie was at the pond at 12:15am on 13 Oct 19.

Not even this Brown House-moth (Hofmannophila pseudospretella) could impress me today. The caterpillars can cause considerable damage to fabrics as I well know. I had first hand experience of that, when I lived in Swindon. A dozen or more caterpillars completely ate their way through my fishing bags, jackets, umbrella and other tackle accessories which were stored in the garden shed. Apparently this moth was introduced to the British Isles in the 1800's from Asia. It is a common pest of fabrics in the home and is regarded as a scavenging moth, feeding on fluff and detritus that accumulates around skirting boards, under heavy furniture and in sheds!!!

The good news today though was about the pond. Here it is yesterday and today it............

.........has a Lily.

Even in the rain this Lily has opened and most certainly brightened up the day.

Ted's not impressed, but at least..........

............Benji's awake and isn't too bothered about not going out.
