Wakeham

The forecast for today was lots of cloud, which in part was right, but there was a fair bit of sun as well, which brought out quite a few insects in the back garden, including a male Broad-bodied Chaser. But for some unknown reason I didn't see a single butterfly. Very odd!!!

Birds Recorded:
Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Dunnock, Blackbird, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Magpie, Carrion Crow, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet and Goldfinch

It's not often a Herring Gull will drop into the garden.

This Woodpigeon was not happy about the Magpie trying to take the seeds it was feeding on.

Reptiles Recorded:
2 Slow-worms

Dragonflies and Damselflies Recorded:
Broad-bodied Chaser and a male Azure Damselfly

Butterflies Recorded:
What an odd day. I didn't see a single butterfly!!

Moths Recorded:
Silver Y (Autographa gamma) and 2 unidentified moths.

One lucky Silver Y (Autographa gamma). It had somehow fallen into a bucket of rain water and was unable to swim to the side. Here it is drying out on the Arbour.

Honey Bees (Apis mellifera), Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) and Common Carder (Bombus pascuorum)
