Wakeham

Another day in the garden and still quite a few insects about. It was much the same as yesterday, though an Orange-tip butterfly, an Earwig were new today, plus Black Bean Aphids (Aphis fable) which I've not come across before on Portland.

A Pheasant was calling from the neighbouring gardens and there was also a Blackcap singing close by.

Here are a few images and videos from today:

The original pond is certainly attracting the amphibians like this Frog. Hopefully it wont be long before the second pond is completed.

The neighbours Buckthorn is in flower now and attracting Honey Bees and.......

............Orange-tailed Mining Bees.

And another andrena, this time an Ashy Mining Bee

I first came across this hoverfly yesterday by the pond and this Small Spotty-eyed Dronefly was still about today.

One of two Swollen-thighed Beetles in the garden.

Here it is having a brush up before flying off.

I've not seen too many Earwigs in the garden, but this one I did spot, as it trundled over the lawn.

A Copper Sun-jumper (Heliophanus cupreus)

And the Blackflies are out in force on the Gelder Rose. There are many species of Blackflies but I'm pretty sure these are Black Bean Aphids (Aphis fable)

Ted wouldn't be Ted if he didn't have a buzz every now and then
