After yet another very busy day, which involved me picking my car up from the garage for the third time, Ted and I finally got to have a walk. The only annoying thing though, was that any sun there was earlier in the day had disappeared as the fog descended in the afternoon.
There were no birds to speak about, though there were many juveniles calling from Penns Wood and around St Andrew's Church, which were mainly Wrens.
I did come across a pair of Common Blues, not flying but rested up in the long grass along the Mermaid Track.
There were also quite a few moths on the wing, though none stopped long enough to be ID'd.
As for bees, the most numerous were Common Carders, plus a few Red-tailed Bumblebees and Honey Bees.
Here are a few images and a video from this afternoon:
This Blackbird was in good voice and...........
...............in the background are the waves breaking on the beach at Church Ope Cove. And with him singing and swaying in the wind, you could be forgiven for feeling a bit seasick. Now where are those Kwells!!
Unsurprisingly there were no butterflies on the wing, so it was............
........a nice surprise to come across a pair of Common Blues rested up in the long grass along the Mermaid Track. I think the male and a worn one at that, is the top one and the female is below. But there again!!
I saw a few bees this afternoon, but the most numerous were Common Carder Bumblebees.
I have been looking out for Ivy Broomrape (Orobanche hederae) since May but its taken until now to find some. This plant has no chlorophyll and is totally reliant on ivy to survive. More on this parasitic plant Here.
Well I'm not sure what brought this on but Ted is in hurry to get somewhere else but here.
