Wakeham

It's that time of year again when the Foxes start calling and in the early hours of this morning (4:40am) we were woken by a vixen crying out very loudly, as she made her way down the street. Extraordinarily enough a/same vixen started calling on this very day 3 years ago. There is an interesting website on Foxes Here.

Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penn's Weare, Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle and Mermaid Track

Another sunny day, but a lot cooler than of late. No real highlights other than it seemed that there were a lot of Robins singing from every bush and tree along my walk. Even on the beach you could hear a Robin singing from around the huts.

Another bird species in good numbers were Chaffinches, with 10 or more in Penns Wood. Still no crests here or anywhere else for that matter. This Winter has been pretty dire for overwintering species.

Here are a few images and a video from today:

In the northeast corner of the cove, the adult Herring Gulls keep watch, as their offspring sits behind them.

It's amazing what you can find on the beach. On this washed up piece of Kelp was this odd looking "plant" or is it!!

A Woodpigeon which posed very well for the camera in Penn's Copse, but........

..............really couldn't decide which side was the best.

So vain!

It was definitely a day for singing Robins. There were dozens along my walk singing from every advantage point they could find.

This one was in good voice and though not that audible on this video, there were Robins singing either side of him. In fact when he flew off, I suspect it was to warn off one of the others.

It's a bit of a climb up the south facing cliff path. Not for Ted though. Show off.
