Portland Marina
Nothing too exciting today as it was a visit to Portland Marina to check our boat "Star", but at least it gave me a great opportunity to add a few more birds to the year list.
Nothing too exciting today as it was a visit to Portland Marina to check our boat "Star", but at least it gave me a great opportunity to add a few more birds to the year list.
As I arrived a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers landed a few metres away from the boat and immediately dived and headed further up the marina, when they realised I was looking at them from close quarters.
Also here were 2 Cormorants fishing between the pontoons and a lone Black-headed Gull.
On the breakwater just a single Grey Heron, several more Cormorants and a couple of Shags.
Here are a few images and videos from today:
Here are a few images and videos from today:
A pair of Red-breasted Mergansers in the marina.
And here they are fishing next the breakwater.
And another short video as they continually searched for a meal
Also here were two Cormorants working their way between the pontoons.
And my first Black-headed Gull of the year. An adult in Winter plumage.
And a solitary Grey Heron on the breakwater, keeping out of the strong north-easterly wind.
And Ted, who didn't seem to mind being on the boat today. Though once he was on the pontoon it....
Ted having his usual buzz, with a bit barking this time
I'm sure if he wanted to, he could walk a tight-rope.
Ferrybridge
As I was passing Ferrybridge later there were dozens of Dunlin on the shoreline.
Birds Recorded: Cormorant, Shag, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, Dozens of Dunlin, 1 Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull and, Great Black-backed Gull.
