Church Ope Cove and Penns Wood

A mix of sunshine and drizzle today, main highlights much the same as previous days with the 2 Black Redstarts, 1 Stonechat, 1 Grey Wagtail and the male Pied Wagtail all at the cove. More Rock Pipits today with 23 counted.

In Penns Wood the male Great Spotted Woodpecker was hammering away at a branch, and also here were several Chaffinches, Great Tits, Blue Tits, a single Goldcrest and 4 Grey Squirrels.

Only negative news was that I couldn't find any of the Chiffchaffs that have been here recently.

The beach huts here on Church Ope Cove were the centre of attention this afternoon with.......

One of the 23 Rock Pipits here today feasting on the Kelp Flies.

And there's always a Wren about.

Birds Recorded: Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 23 Rock Pipit, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Wren, Dunnock, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Stonechat, 2 Black Redstart, Robin, Blackbird, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Long-tailed Tit, House Sparrow, Chaffinch and Goldfinch.

Also recorded 1 Meliscaeva auricollis hoverfly.
