Wakeham Wood, Penns Wood and Church Ope Cove

A very windy and despite the weather forecast of rain it actually remained dry. Well certainly up until 5:30pm.

Main highlights were a Chiffchaff and 2 Goldcrests in Wakeham Wood Here, and the overwintering 2 Black Redstarts, Stonechat, Grey Wagtail and Pied Wagtail on the beach at Church Ope Cove.

Also on the beach were 25 Rock Pipits and several Wrens again.

Out in the rough sea were several Gannets, with one individual being harassed by 3 Great Black-backed Gulls. Also on the wing were Razorbills, Cormorants and Kittiwakes.

Here are a few images from today:

Black Redstart number one and..............

......number 2 keeping its distance.

A very busy Black Redstart on the beach. It was an effort to keep up with it.

The overwintering Stonechat is still about.

As the waves come crashing in the Rock Pipits were scurrying around like leaf litter feeding on the Kelp Flies.

One of several Gannets along the coast here.

It was certainly rough out there today.

Always sad to see. Some mindless moron decided to put their fist or something through the noticeboard at the top of Penns Wood.

And wow didn't see that coming. The Church Ope car park is closing for good.

So now we will have an extra 20+ cars on the main road in Wakeham. Nice one!!!!!!!!
