RSPB Radipole Lake

It was another trip into Weymouth this afternoon, followed by a walk around the Buddleia Loop at Radipole Lake. No new birds for my year list, but lots of highlights. including three different Robins feeding from my hand. You can't go wrong with mealworms in the palm of your hand.

Other highlights were the pair of Goldeneye still present in the water to the west of the Swannery car park, a lone Common Gull in amongst the Herring Gulls, 4 Cetti's Warblers heard, a Goldcrest and 4 different parties of Bearded Tits calling from the reedbeds.

Just the one Grey Heron seen

This cob Mute Swan has just clocked Ted and is heading our way. Time to leave.

In the foreground are five Tufted Duck with several Coot behind them.

Left to right an adult Great Black-backed Gull, a 1st winter Common Gull, an adult Great Black-backed Gull taking off and behind it you can just about make out the head of an adult Herring Gull.

The RSPB team were out clearing a few of the reedbeds.

This is the RSPB Visitors Centre which very soon will have a viewing platform around it. That will be an excellent addition to the reserve.
