With wind speeds gusting up to 54mph as Storm Dudley moved across the UK, it seemed pointless to have a walk on the island. So instead, Ted and I had a walk along the esplanade at Chiswell, watching waves crashing onto Chesil beach.
Main highlight was watching a Grey Seal swimming just 20 metres or so off the beach. At times it would stick its head out of the water and then roll onto its back before nose diving into an approaching wave. I'm not sure how you tell if a seal is enjoying itself or not, but this one certainly appeared to be!!
The only birds seen were 50+ Herring Gulls, a handful of Great Black-backed Gulls, 2 Black-headed Gulls and a Rock Pipit which I heard calling but couldn't locate.
