Pennsylvania Castle Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Rufus Castle and Bumpers Lane

It was another trip down to the cove today, with the main highlights being a male Great Spotted Woodpecker in Penns Wood and the female Black Redstart, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail plus just 2 Rock Pipits at the cove.

Overhead two Common Buzzards drifted slowly south, followed later by a Kestrel.

I could be wrong but it did look like the Long-tailed Tits were looking for a suitable nest site, just behind the huts. No nesting material was seen, but they were in the same area they nested two years ago. Time will tell.

There were a few hoverflies and flies on the flowering Alexanders.
