Wakeham Wood, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church and Church Ope Cove
A lovely sunny day, but with that westerly breeze it made it difficult to spot any migrants as they worked their way through the Sycamores in Wakeham Wood and Penns Wood.
However where there was shelter Franko and I managed a good 16 or so Chiffchaff and Blackcaps and at least 2 Goldcrests, around Wakeham Wood and the Railway Cuttings. Also here were 8 Long-tailed Tits, Great Tits and Blue Tits. Overhead we also had 2 Buzzards and a female Sparrowhawk, the latter keeping the tits and warblers on their toes.
Having said cheerio to Franko I made my way down to Penns Wood and straight away I had 2 Firecrests which were later joined by a third. Also here were 2 Goldcrests and 3 Chiffchaffs.
Making my way down to St Andrew's Church I came across a small flock of Long-tailed Tits, which had a single Chiffchaff in tow.
Next stop was Church Ope Cove and the only birds of interest here were 6 Rock Pipits.
Here are a few images from this afternoon:
Over Wakeham Wood there was a bit of an aerial battle going on with.............
..........this Buzzard and Carrion Crow.
In Penns Wood one of the 3 Firecrests here this afternoon.
Couldn't resist but yet another photo of an Ivy Bee
Where there was shelter, the afternoon sun was warm enough for a few Wall Lizards to come out and bask.
