Wakeham Wood, Bottom Combe Quarry and Wakeham Railway Cuttings

What an extraordinary morning with a mass of migrants passing through the woods, quarry and cuttings. In fact I couldn't tear myself away and spent a good hour or more sifting through the warblers.

Whilst I was there I met up with Franco, who last year bagged the Pallas's Warbler in exactly the same spot where today I came across 2 Firecrests.

Between us we had dozens of Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, a few Goldcrests and 2 Firecrests, 2 for me and 1 for Franco.

No Yellow-browed or Pallas's here today, but I'm sure it won't be long before they put in an appearance.

Also here were 2 Song Thrushes, several Blackbirds and at least 8 Robins.

Overhead we had a few Meadow Pipits heading south and around 12 Skylarks heading north. A Grey Wagtail, 5 Pied Wagtail, 15 House Martin's and a Siskin also passed overhead.

Here are a few Record Shots of the 2 Firecrest from this morning.

The Sycamores along this fence line Here, produced 2 Firecrests this morning.

Firecrest no 1.

Firecrest no 2
