Wakeham Wood, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penns Weare, Penns Copse, Rufus Castle and Portland Museum.

I didn't quite dodge the showers this morning and having stayed dried from Wakeham Wood all the way down to the beach, the heavens decided to burst as I reached the shore line. Well at least the bird watching made up for my soaking.

Here are my highlights:

Wakeham Wood: 4 Chiffchaff and 2 Goldcrest. Overhead 2 Siskin and a Grey Wagtail

Wakeham Railway Cuttings: 2 Goldcrest, 2 Firecrest and 3 Redwing

St Andrew's Church: 1 Goldcrest

Church Ope Cove Wood: 1 Goldcrest and overhead 2 Carrion Crows mobbing a Raven

Church Ope Cove: 3 Rock Pipits and 2 Oystercatcher. Out to sea 1 Cormorant and 4 Herring Gull

In Penns Wood a Harlequin Ladybird form spectabilis.

And on the left the Harlequin Ladybird form succinea. On the right is.......

............one of the Miridae bugs, possibly a Common Green Capsid - Lygocoris pabulinus

A German Wasp returning to its nest in the church grounds.

The Daddy Long-legs Spider is still at the back of the cove in the public conveniences.

On the rocks at the cove were these two............

.............Oystercatchers.

Mammals Recorded: 1 Grey Squirrel

Birds Recorded: 1 Cormorant, 4 Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, 3 Rock Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, 3 Redwing, 4 Chiffchaff, 6 Goldcrest, 2 Firecrest, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, 1 Raven, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, 2 Siskin and Goldfinch

Wasps Recorded: German Wasp (Vespula germanica) and Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)

Hoverflies Recorded: 1 Common Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax)

Flies Recorded: Kelp Fly (Coelopa frigida)

Bugs and Beetles Recorded: Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia axyridis, 3 form - succinea and 2 form - spectabilis) and a probable Common Green Capsid (Lygocoris pabulinus)

Spiders Recorded: 1 Daddy Long-legs Spider (Pholcus phalangioides)

Today, 2017 was when a Radde's Warbler turned up in Broadcroft Quarry Pools. More Here
