Wakeham Wood, Bottom Combe Quarry, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Church Ope Car Park, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penns Weare, Penns Copse, Rufus Castle, Mermaid Track, Bumpers Lane, Broadcroft Quarry Lane and Lower Horse Paddock.

Not to many highlights today and unfortunately the Ring Ouzel from earlier this morning, along the Mermaid Track, was long gone when I got there.

Here are my highlights from today:

Wakeham Wood: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap and 1 Goldcrest. Overhead a small flock of Skylarks heading south whilst there many Meadow Pipits and Chaffinch heading north.

Bottom Combe Quarry: 1 Greenfinch

Wakeham Railway Cuttings: 3 Chiffchaff

Church Ope Car Park: 2 Chiffchaff and 5 Goldcrest

Penns Wood: 2 Goldcrest

Church Ope Cove: 4 Rock Pipit and 1 fly-by Cormorant

Mermaid Track: 2 Chiffchaff and 1 Blackcap

Unusual sighting today was a "reverse" migration of Meadow Pipits. For the past week or so they have been heading south, but today many were heading back up the island. My only thought is that with lots of Chaffinches moving up the island today, they somehow felt compelled to join them. Who knows!!

A few butterflies about mainly Red Admirals, a couple of Large Whites and a worn Painted Lady.

Here are a few images from today:

Wakeham Railway Cutting where today there were.........

.........3 Chiffchaffs.

Here is the second bird.

And the third Chiffchaff.

Also along the Cuttings a Blue Tit.

In the hedgerow a Robin's Pincushion on a Dog Rose. It is a gall caused by the larvae of a tiny gall wasp, Dipoloepis rosaea. More on this Here.

On the beach at Church Ope Cove just 4 Rock Pipits. The beach was busy with weekend visitors, so hopefully the other 27+ will be back tomorrow.

By Rufus Castle were a couple of...........

............Wall Lizards enjoying the warm sunshine.

On the Ivy by the Castle an Ivy Bee and as a comparison............

............a Honey Bee.

The Ivy Bush was also alive with hoverflies. This is a Marmalade Hoverfly and.............

.............keeping it company an Epistrophe grossulariae

In the Lower Horse paddock this fawn coloured Bunny.

A lot smaller than the ones around it, this is a youngster. At this age they are quite light in colouration, though I can't say I have ever seen one so fawn coloured.

A very short video of this fawn coloured Bunny.
