Wakeham Wood, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penns Weare, Penns Copse, Rufus Castle, The Cuttings, Bumpers Lane, Bumpers Quarry, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Lower Horse Paddock.

Another good walk this morning with the main highlights being a Ring Ouzel in Penns Weare (below The Cuttings) and Firecrest at the top of Penns Wood.

Below are all my sightings from this morning:

Wakeham Wood: 3 Chiffchaff and 2 Blackcap. Also 3 Siskin overhead

Penns Wood: 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest and a Firecrest

Church Ope Cove: 45 Rock Pipit (My highest ever count here in 2 years). Out to sea a feeding frenzy with Gannets, Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull and Kittiwake all participating.

Penns Weare: 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Ring Ouzel and a Buzzard

Bumpers Lane: 1 Chiffchaff

Broadcroft Quarry Lane: 1 Chiffchaff

Lower Horse Paddock: 15 Meadow Pipit and 4 Linnet

Fewer Chiffchaffs today in Wakeham Wood, but there have never been less than 3 for the past 4 weeks or so.

Also in the wood a Hornet Mimic Hoverfly

On the Ivy 2 Ivy Bees.

Still lots of Harlequin Ladybirds about. This the form succinea and I think he is.........

........camera shy.

Another Harlequin ladybird..........

............this is also the form succinea with fewer spots.

At the cove there is still quite a surf crashing onto the beach.

My best ever count of Rock Pipits here today........

............with 45 recorded. My previous best was.........

..........42. They were everywhere today on the beach and on the cliff face.

A Rock Pipit on the beach with millions of Kelp Flies for company.

In Penns Weare I couldn't photograph the Ring Ouzel I found there.........

..........but this Common Buzzard was more than happy to pose for me.

Flies Recorded: Kelp Fly (Coelopa frigida) and Orange Muscid Fly (Phaonia pallida)

Bugs and Beetles Recorded: Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia axyridis, 10 form succinea and 4 form spectabilis)

Slugs and Snails Recorded: White-lipped Banded Snail (Cepaea hortensis), Garden Snail (Cornu aspersa) and Heath Snail (Helicella itala)

This is the Korean vehicles carrier "Glovis Condor" just off the southern tip of Portland.........
