Wakeham Wood, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penns Weare, Penns Copse, Rufus Castle, Bumpers Lane and Mermaid Track

A typical grey murky Autumn Day, with a bit of drizzle to add to the gloom. Only highlights today were a Redwing and Firecrest along the Wakeham Railway Cutting and another Firecrest along Penns Weare.

Here is a break down of today's birds:

Wakeham Wood: 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Song Thrush and 2 Greenfinch. Also 1 Siskin overhead

Wakeham Railway Cuttings: 1 Firecrest and a Redwing

Penns Wood: 2 Goldcrest

St Andrew's Church: 1 Chiffchaff and 1 Goldcrest

Church Ope Cove: 7 Rock Pipits and a Chiffchaff . Overhead a Skylark and out to sea a Cormorant

Penns Weare: 2 Goldcrest, 1 Firecrest, 2 Greenfinch and 2 Sparrowhawks

Penns Copse: 1 Chiffchaff

Bumpers Lane: 1 Chiffchaff and 1 Goldcrest

Mermaid Track: 1 Chiffchaff

No butterflies, bees or hoverflies seen. Both the Common Wasp nest (Church Ope Cove) and the German Wasp nests (St Andrew's Church grounds) are still very busy, and in Penns Wood all 3 forms of Harlequin Ladybirds were found.

Birds Recorded: Cormorant, 2 Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, Meadow Pipit, 7 Rock Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, 1 Redwing, 1 Song Thrush, 8 Chiffchaff, 8 Goldcrest, 2 Firecrest, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet, 1 Siskin, Goldfinch and 2 Greenfinch

Wasps Recorded: German Wasp (Vespula germanica) and Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)

Flies Recorded: Kelp Fly (Coelopa frigida)

Bugs and Beetles Recorded: Harlequin Ladybird (Harmonia axyridis, 2 form - succinea, 1 form - conspicua and 1 form - spectabilis)
