Ferrybridge

Between 1:15pm and 2:00pm there were c.1000 Dark-bellied Brent Geese on the waters edge, with more coming in as I was leaving. Also here were 3 Oystercatcher, 15 Ringed Plover, 23 Dunlin, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 83 Mediterranean Gull, a lone Lesser Black-backed Gull and 12 Great Black-backed Gulls.

Close to the Fleet Centre were 7 Skylark and 2 Meadow Pipits foraging in amongst the saltwater plants.

Overhead 30 Starling and 2 Siskin headed south.

Just a few Brent Geese on the waters edge.

In the foreground Mediterranean Gulls. A quick head count and I reached 83.

As the sea retreated, several Skylarks dropped in and started to feed in amongst the exposed plants.

There are plenty of seeds and insects here.

This one is a wannabe Stone Curlew. See what I mean HERE

I even had one singing, not in the air but on the ground as it was foraging.

Quite a distinct eye-ring and supercilium, despite what the handguides suggest.

Here are three of them feeding together. Every time a Meadow Pipit called they all dropped low to the ground.

Here's another Skylark and the one below.....

..........is a Meadow Pipit. Quite olive coloured compared to the Skylarks.

Two Skylarks feeding in front of the Chesil Beach Centre

Great Black-backed Gulls with a Lesser Black-backed Gull in the centre.

Birds Recorded: c.1000 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 3 Oystercatcher, 15 Ringed Plover, 23 Dunlin, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 8 Black-headed Gull, 83 Mediterranean Gull, Herring Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 12 Great Black-backed Gull, 7 Skylark, 4 Meadow Pipit, 30 Starling and 2 Siskin.

Wakeham

It appears my neighbours Buck Thorn is the main attraction to winter thrushes, with 3 Blackbirds and 2 Redwings squabbling over the bragging rights.

One of the Redwings that have now taken up residence in the back garden.

Here's the other one on the neighbours Sycamore.
