Culverwell and Crown Estate Fields

With the news that a Rustic Bunting had been caught in the mists nets, it was off to have a look. Sadly, just like the Little Bunting trapped here a few weeks ago, unless you were there when it was caught, it was very unlikely that you would see the bird in the field. This was the case with the Rustic and even with plenty of binoculars and telescopes peering into the crop fields it wasn't seen again.

Plenty of other birds around with a huge flock of Linnets, possibly 1000 birds all enjoying the seeds in the Crown Estate Fields. Also about at least 50 Skylarks with several singing above the Top Fields.

Other birds singing were a Willow Warbler above Culverwell and lots of Robins setting up territories for the Winter!

Along the roadside were 5 Stonechats and another above Culverwell, where there were 3 Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap calling.

Just one Red Admiral seen, despite the mild conditions.

Birds Recorded were: 2 Kestrel, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, 50+ Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Robin, 6 Stonechat, Blackbird, Song Thrush, 4 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler, Goldcrest, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Rook, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Raven, Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet and Goldfinch.
