Bumpers Lane and Quarry

Same walk as yesterday evening but sadly no sign of the Lovebird.

Quite a few Swallows and House Martins about, with a majority of them feeding along the East Weares

In a few of the Sycamores I came across Goldcrests, Chiffchaffs, Great Tits, Blue Tits and Wrens all feeding alongside each other.

Other highlights a Kestrel in the horse field attempting to catch a vole without success, a few Blackcaps in the Buddleias and a few Ivy Bees and Red Admirals out in the setting sun.

Here are a few images from this evening.

A male Kestrel is on the lookout for a meal.

It looks like he may have found something........

........and off he drops. Not this time!

A Goldfinch has a lot to say.........

....and then realises the cameras on him. Nice pose.

A Wren in amongst Old Man's Beard (Clematis vitalba) looking for insects.

One of many Red Admirals out this evening on the Ivy flowers.

They weren't alone with Common Droneflies..........

........and yep my favourite Ivy Bees all making the most of the Ivy plants.

A fishing boat returning to Weymouth with a dozen or more Herring Gulls and Great Black-backed Gulls in tow.
Another boat keeps tight to the shoreline without a gull in sight.

Birds Recorded were: Kestrel, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, House Martin, Swallow, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet and Goldfinch.

Wakeham

Early this morning Siskins and Goldcrests heard calling as they passed overhead. In the back garden the caterpillars of the Large White are doing very well and getting fatter everyday on the Nasturtium leaves.
