Penn's Weare

An interesting walk this evening which produced a Yellow-browed Warbler in the Sycamores Here, just below the cliff the climbers use. Also about 1 Wheatear and several Chiffchaffs

A flock of 35 Pied Wagtails was the only other highlight as they came off the sea and headed towards Wakeham.

In the undergrowth a one of shot of what I believe is an Ichneumon waspOphion scutellaris

As I made my way home I had a tweet to say a Red-breasted Flycatcher was in Broadcroft Quarry. That's fate for you!! Had I carried on walking up Broadcroft Lane instead taking a right towards the Penn's Weare, I might have had the opportunity to see a lifer. There's always tomorrow!

Here are a few images from a very misty evening.

Not the Moon but the Sun, veiled by Portland Fog. A word of caution: - NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN.

A male Kestrel above the cliffs......

.....and as I dropped down on to the South-west Coast path he was sat on top of the cliff........

.......whilst his mate was below him.

Looking south to The Bill. In the distance the sea fog pours in and the fog horn is sounding away. In the foreground just to the left of the white rocks a Yellow-browed Warbler was in the Sycamores here.

Just beyond the WWII pill-box there were these 5 Cormorants working their way along the shoreline.

It makes a nice change to have Benji join Ted and me for a walk. Good boy.

A male Wheatear settles down on a rock.

An Ichneumon wasp quite possibly Ophion scutellaris. I was very lucky to get this shot, it landed, I managed to set the camera on macro and pop up the flash and managed just this one shot before it flew off.
That sky behind Rufus Castle and Pennsylvania Castle is quite dramatic.

Well we couldn't have a walk without Ted showing up in either a photo or video.
