Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve, Higher Horse Paddock, Easton Railway Cuttings, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Mermaid Track, Bumpers Lane and back through Lower Horse Paddock.

Yet another miserable dull day and even though the sun did come out briefly, it was back to the fine drizzle again.

I had planned to do my exercise walk down through Penns Wood and have a quick look at the cove. However when I got to Church Ope Car park, it was heaving. Seems everyone else was wanting to "Exercising" at the cove as well.

So plan B was to go down the Mermaid Track, along Bumpers Lane and back through the Lower Horse paddock again, missing out the wood and cove.

It's been awhile since I've visited the Horse paddocks and it turned out that both fields had all the highlights. In the Lower Paddock there were 4 Stonechat, a Black Redstart, 6 Meadow Pipits and 3 Pied Wagtails. Whilst in the Higher Horse paddock there was another Black Redstart and a further 5 Pied Wagtails

Here are a few images and videos from today:

Black Redstart number 1, which originally was in the Lower Horse paddock and then flew into the Building Site in Bumpers lane.

There were a few Stonechats about as well...........

...........with these 2 males (the third male flew off into another Bramble) plus....

.............this female.

And then having walked up Broadcroft Quarry Lane where there was a Song Thrush, I cut across the Butterfly Reserve (West) and came across this male Black Redstart in the Higher Horse Paddock.

In the past few weeks I have come across several Black Redstarts. Seems to be a decent Autumn for them.

Well if there was ever an opportunity to tell the difference between a Raven from a Carrion Crow, this is it.

The anvil shape of the Ravens tail on the right is, apart from its larger size, a good identifying feature.

Lots of Pied Wagtails here today and a quite a few 1st Winter birds like this "yellow-faced" individual.

Where there's muck there's fungi.

One to ID later.

I think Ted's got use to wearing his waterproof jacket. He's certainly worn it enough times!!

Blink and you will miss him.
