Wakeham

I had hoped to go for another walk today, but with an expected home delivery (between 9:00am and 8:00pm), it was back to the garden today. I'm glad I did as I managed a few more invertebrates for my Garden Lockdown List.

No new birds, but a Yellow Wagtail heading north over the garden was good to see, plus a handful of Swallows. Both the Common Whitethroats are still singing away.

A few butterflies again with a Red Admiral and a Large White both visiting the Valerian throughout the day.

Fewer bees now, with just the 1 Buff-tailed Bumblebee seen, a lone Lathbury's Nomad Bee, plus both male and female Blue Mason Bees.

Today I had a few new species for my lockdown list. They were a Celery fly (Euleia heraclei), a smart looking Ichneumon Wasp (Amblyteles armatorius) and a Vagrant Hoverfly.

Lathbury's Nomad Bee (Nomada lathburiana)

This is an Ichneumon Wasp (Amblyteles armatorius).........

..........and a new one for the garden list.

Narcissus Bulb Fly (Merodon equestris)

Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus)

A hoverfly, which sadly wont be identifiable. I only managed this shot and then it was gone. However all is not lost, a friend of a friend has ID'd this as a Vagrant Hoverfly (Eupeodes corollae). So another new addition to the garden lockdown list.

Red Admiral

This is the Celery fly (Euleia heraclei)

It is a first for the garden lockdown list.

What is odd about this individual is that it is an aberrant Orange-brown morph. This species is normally all black, but oddly enough I didn't come across any of those in the garden.

And of course Ted, who was a bit annoyed that we had to wait at home for the delivery man.

Lockdown Garden List is Here.
