Another day away from my local patch and it was off to Castle Cove followed by another visit to Portland Castle Beach.
This morning there had been a report of a Black Guillemot showing well from Castle Cove Sailing Club where there were also a Black-throated Diver and 2 Black-necked Grebes. Well I got the Black-throated Diver and the 2 Black-necked Grebes, but no luck with the Black Guillemot. Also along this stretch were 15+ Red-breasted Mergansers and a few Great Crested Grebes. At the back of the Cove was a Chiffchaff and a small party of Long-tailed Tits.

Lots of birds way out in the harbour, except for this Great Crested Grebe.
Next stop was Portland Castle where there were 5 Red-breasted Mergansers. Unfortunately there was no sign of the Great Northern Diver from yesterday. The Chiffchaff was still here calling from the bushes close to "The Boat That Rocks". On the way to Portland Castle there were 2 Dark-bellied Brent Geese on The Fleet.

Birds Recorded: 1 Black-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Black-necked Grebe, Cormorant, Shag, 2 Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 15 Red-breasted Merganser, Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, Pied Wagtail, Robin, Blackbird, 2 Chiffchaff, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Raven, Starling, Chaffinch and Goldfinch.
