Wakeham Wood, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penns Weare, Penns Copse and Rufus Castle.

A late morning walk and a noticeable dip in migrant birds. However at:

Wakeham Wood: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Common Whitethroat and a Yellow Wagtail overhead.

Perryfield: 1 Chiffchaff

Penns Wood: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest and 1 Spotted Flycatcher

Church Ope Cove and Church Woods: 2 Chiffchaff (1 singing)

Church Ope Cove: 5 Rock Pipits and a juvenile & an adult Herring Gull.

Rufus Castle: 1 Chiffchaff singing

Also noted were several House Martins and Swallows passing over the cove.

A good number of Wall Lizards out today with 4 in the grounds of the church, a couple on Penns weare, 3 up the steps to Rufus Castle and 3 along the path up to Portland Museum.

Yet again a noticeable drop in butterflies. Just a handful of Red Admirals and Large Whites. The Peacock was still in the church grounds, there was a Small Heath on Penns Weare and a Holly Blue just up the path from the arch way at Rufus Castle.

As yesterday dozens of Ivy Bees about. If you come across an Ivy in flower there's a good chance they'll be an Ivy Bee in amongst the hundreds of hoverflies.

Also noted an Emperor Dragonfly and an Amblyteles armatorius Ichneumon Wasp, both seen by Rufus Castle

Here are a few images from today:

A good number of Wall Lizards out today.

This one and the one above were in the church grounds.

A Painted Lady in the church grounds. The only one I found today.

Also in the church grounds this lone Peacock.

The Ivy on the way down from the church to to the cove is alive......

.......with Ivy Bees.

A fairly new bee to the British shores. It first arrived in 2001 from the continent.

At the cove an adult Herring Gull and its........

..........offspring close-by.

A Rock Pipit.

On Penns Weare a Small Heath butterfly.

Another Wall Lizard. This one on the steps up to Rufus Castle.

Its not just the Ivy Bees that like the Ivy but also.........
