It was a day spent in the back garden doing a bit of tidying up and collecting seeds from a selection of flowers. Whether they will germinate next Spring remains to be seen, but unless you try you will never know.

Butterflies Recorded:
1 Large White
1 Red Admiral


Bees Recorded:
Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris)
Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)
Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae)

A Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) on a Passion Flower (Passiflora sp.)

And a Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) on Common Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus). A plant that is also known as Mexican Aster.

And one of my favourite bees....................

......................... at this time of year, an Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae)

Wasps, Ichneumon Wasps, Parasitic Wasps and Gall Wasps Recorded:
Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)


Hoverflies Recorded:
Common Dronefly (Eristalis tenax)

Chequered Hoverfly (Melanostoma scalare)

A Common Dronefly (Eristalis tenax) sat on the leaf of the Fig tree

A Chequered Hoverfly (Melanostoma scalare) on Common Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris)

Caterpillars Recorded:
2 Large White

One of the two Large White caterpillars on the Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus). No doubt there were others hidden away.

Plants:

buckthorn sp.

Berries on the neighbours Buckthorn and a few of those deadly 35mm thorns around them.
