Wakeham

It was a day spent in the back garden doing a bit of tidying up and collecting seeds from a selection of flowers. Whether they will germinate next Spring remains to be seen, but unless you try you will never know.

Bees Recorded:
Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris)
Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)
Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae)

A Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) on a Passion Flower (Passiflora sp.)

And a Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) on Common Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus). A plant that is also known as Mexican Aster.

And one of my favourite bees....................

Wasps, Ichneumon Wasps, Parasitic Wasps and Gall Wasps Recorded:
Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)


Hoverflies Recorded:
Common Dronefly (Eristalis tenax)
Chequered Hoverfly (Melanostoma scalare)

A Common Dronefly (Eristalis tenax) sat on the leaf of the Fig tree

Chequered Hoverfly (Melanostoma scalare) on Common Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris)


Caterpillars Recorded:
2 Large White

One of the two Large White caterpillars on the Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus). No doubt there were others hidden away.
