It was a change of scenery today and a visit to the grounds just north of The Grove here. This area is normally pretty good in the Autumn for Yellow-browed Warblers and Firecrests. Unfortunately not today.
The best I could find today was six Pied Wagtails and two Siskins overhead, plus two Chiffchaffs.
Birds Recorded:
1 Peregrine Falcon
Herring Gull
Wood Pigeon
6 Pied Wagtail
Dunnock
Robin
Blackbird
2 Chiffchaff
Great Tit
Blue Tit
Wren
Magpie
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
Chaffinch
2 Siskin
Goldfinch
Two for the price of one. I hadn't realised at the time, but to the left of the Goldfinch I was photographing, was a male Chaffinch
Butterflies Recorded:
2 Red Admiral
This Red Admiral was desperately trying to take off. It did eventually warm itself up and take off into the strong south-easterly.
Bees Recorded:
1 Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris)
Wasps, Ichneumon Wasps, Parasitic Wasps and Gall Wasps Recorded:
Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris)
Hoverflies Recorded:
Common Dronefly (Eristalis tenax)
The Carrion Crow that Ted chased off, was having none of it and headed right back to pool of water.
