Bumpers Lane, Shepherd's Dinner, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve and Lower Horse Paddock

I won't say it out to loud, but it was another warm, sunny day. In fact it was that warm, the jacket came off and I was just just walking around in a T-shirt and trousers of course!!

The highlights are starting to diminish and the best I could record today were:
8 Lesser Black-backed Gull - heading north up East Weare's
3 Meadow Pipit - Butterfly Reserve
4 Pied Wagtail - Lower Horse Paddock
3 Stonechat - Butterfly Reserve
12+ Chaffinches - Broadcroft Quarry Lane
1 Siskin - over Lower Horse Paddock

There were no signs of any Chiffchaffs, Goldcrests, Firecrests or Blackcaps.

A lone Red Admiral flew across the Lower Horse Paddock

Birds Recorded:
Black-headed Gull
Herring Gull
8 Lesser Black-backed Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Wood Pigeon
3 Meadow Pipit
4 Pied Wagtail
Dunnock
Robin
3 Stonechat
Blackbird
1 Song Thrush
Long-tailed Tit
Blue Tit
Wren
Magpie
Carrion Crow
1 Raven
Starling
House Sparrow
Chaffinch
Linnet
1 Siskin
Goldfinch

An adult Pied Wagtail in the Lower Horse Paddock.

This was definitely a Robin Day. I must have counted at least 15 on my walk.

Just the one male Stonechat seen this afternoon.....

.......though one of these two.......

..........females from yesterday, has moved up from the southern end of the horse paddock to the butterfly reserve.

If it was good day for Robins then the same could be said about Chaffinches with dozens seen. This is a female in Broadcroft Quarry Lane.

Also about were a dozen or so Linnets with most of them resting up.............

...............in the bushes along Broadcroft Quarry Lane.

Butterflies Recorded
:
1 Red Admiral

Wasps and Gall Wasps Recorded:
German Wasp (Vespula germanica)

Plants:
Meadow Crane's-bill (Geranium pratense)
Bramble

A Meadow Crane's-bill in flower on the butterfly reserve.

And a close-up of the flower head.

And it appears we have missed out Winter and are now into Spring, with..........

.............so many Brambles now coming into flower.

Unfortunately they will probably all fail to produce blackberries as.....

..........their will be very few pollinators about.

Ted:

Five Teds............

And then ten.
