Bumpers Lane, Church Ope Cove, Rufus Castle and Portland Museum

Yet again, another blustery day, with 48mph gusts and heavy "monsoon" showers. Fortunately there was a break in the weather and I managed an hours walk to the cove and back, just as the sun was setting.

All the action today was two breakers out to sea, just off the beach at Church Ope Cove. There must have been a good 100+ gulls, with a few Black-headed Gulls,  many Herring Gulls, a couple of Great Black-backed Gulls, at least 4 Common Gulls and several Kittiwakes. The latter, not a common sight close in to the beach here.

The German Wasp nest in Bumpers Lane had one very lethargic wasp at the entrance.

Birds Recorded:
Black-headed Gull
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Common Gull
Kittiwake
Wood Pigeon
Robin
Wren
Carrion Crow
2 Raven
Goldfinch

Here are few photos and videos of the gulls at Church Ope Cove this evening.

German Wasp (Vespula germanica)

Is this the last German Wasp "standing". Possibly!!

General Shots:

Not the best Rainbow shot, but you can see that a weather front has passed through. The next one was just as I got home.

Ted:

Today, Ted was in his new "Onesie" raincoat, to keep his feet mud free, especially as he and Benji were at the dog groomers yesterday.

Ships Today:

........to Falmouth in pretty rough waters as you can tell.....

........by this video footage.
