Wakeham

Nothing on the Trail Camera from last night, but this morning the pond area was visited by a pair of Goldfinches and a Dunnock. I also realised when I played back the videos, that a Sycamore leaf was triggering the motion sensor, so there were also 10 false videos. I'm going to have be a bit more savvy where I place the camera in the future.

Old Quarry Lane, Wakeham Meadow, Wakeham Railway Cuttings, Perryfield Quarry Butterfly Reserve, Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Church Ope Cove, Penn's Weare, Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle, The Cuttings Quarry, Bumpers Lane, Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve and Lower Horse Paddock

I was feeling a lot better today, so Ted and I put in a good walk this afternoon to catch up on what has been happening on my local patch.

Well everything looked greener for starters and with the light winds and warm sun, there were an awful lot of invertebrates about, but remarkably not a single butterfly seen. Most odd!!

On the bird front the only migrants I came across were a Common Whitethroat "churring" around the Wakeham Railway Cutting and a Blackcap singing in Penns Wood.

Here are a few images from today:

One of the many Dunnocks I came across on my walk

And a very iridescent Starling

And another which........

.........wasn't to happy about having its photo taken.

One of many Honey Bee seen this afternoon. This one is on a Dandelion flower.

I'm going to have to check the ID of this andrena bee

The Dandelion flowers are very popular at the moment with bees and hoverflies like this one.

A Dead Head Hoverfly on an Alexanders (My first this year)

If the suns out and its warm enough the Wall Lizards will be out basking in the sun. I also came across a very green looking lizard on Penn's Weare. Not sure yet what that could have been.

And there is definitely a spring in Ted's walk. He has had a few walks whilst I have been convalescing, but he had a bit of a marathon today.

Ships Today

This is the cargo ship "RMS Goole" flying the flag of Antigua Barbuda. It is on its way from Teignmouth to Loviisa (Finland) More on this vessel Here.

This is the Cypriot Container Ship "Elbfeeder" on its way from Dublin to Antwerp. More on this vessel Here.

This is I believe the Maltese Catamaran "Jadex Solo Sailor" on its way from Portland Harbour to an unknown destination. I'm unsure as there are no images of this vessel on Marine Traffic. However the speed it was traveling would indicate a very fast boat and later when I checked its location it was just off the coast of Brittany. More on this vessel Here
