Another unseasonably mild day and apart from a few very light showers, it was mainly dry for a good part of the day. Main highlights were a Firecrest in Penns Wood and a very mobile Chiffchaff in Penns Wear, which I heard often but saw only once.
On the beach there were 28 Rock Pipits, a single Pied Wagtail and 3 Wrens. There weren't that many Kelp Flies on the washed up seaweed, but obviously enough to keep all those Rock Pipits happy.
Elsewhere a single Common Wasp in Penns wood where there was also a Harlequin Ladybird.
Here are a few photos from today:
A Harlequin Ladybird in Penns Wood
The copse here had a very vocal Chiffchaff which I saw only once.
Church Ope Cove
The beach is still strewn with seaweed............
...........and a few lobster pots.
There might not be that many Kelp Flies but these Rock Pipits are finding plenty.
Here are a few photos of the Rock Pipits.
Another.
A quick chase for one of those flies.
A pose for the camera......
...and then back to the business of food.
A Pied Wagtail
Not as active as the Rock Pipits. Perhaps just soaking up a few rays of sun.
Good boys. Its not often I can get them to pose.
