Church Ope Cove

Another gloomy day with a cool north-easterly and a bit of of drizzle mixed in.

Main highlight today was the increase in sea birds just offshore with 3 Gannets, Razorbills, GuillemotsCormorants and Kittiwakes making their way up and down the coastline.

On the beach just 5 Rock Pipits and the overwintering Stonechat & Black Redstart. The Stonechat was confiding again and seemed to follow me around the beach, whilst the Black Redstart was sticking to the far north-east corner of the cliff, possibly because the "Rock" Robin was being quite bossy and driving off anything that came close to "his" cliff. Also here the male Pied Wagtail, but no sign of the Grey.

Interesting to note that the "Hut" Robin was at the far range of his Winter territory and was within 3 huts of the "Rock" Robins patch.

Here are a few images from this afternoon:

The friendly Stonechat on the beach.

And a Wren close-by.

One of the 5 Rock Pipits here today.

The male Pied Wagtail and one or two Kelp Flies on the pebbles around him.

And a Gannet makes its way down towards The Bill.

Birds Recorded: 3 Gannet, 1 Shag, 2 Cormorant, Herring Gull, Kittiwake, Razorbill, Guillemot, Wood Pigeon, 5 Rock Pipit, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Magpie, Carrion Crow, 4 Wren, 1 Stonechat, 1 Black Redstart, 2 Robin, 1 Blackbird, Great Tit, 2 Chaffinch.

Wakeham

The back garden was very busy this morning, mainly Great Tits visiting the feeders and a Robin singing away.
