Wakeham

So annoying today, as somehow I put my back out after yesterdays gardening exploits. Today's weather conditions were absolutely ideal for a kayaking around Portland, but there was no way I could lift the kayak off the car roof rack.

So instead it was another day in the garden, but definitely not working!! The only good thing that happened today, was England beating Australia 3 - 1, for a place in the FIFA Women's World Cup Final 2023 taking place on Sunday.

Anyhow back to the garden and the main highlight was a Hummingbird Hawk-moth which suddenly appeared by my feet. At the time, I was using fill-in flash to photograph the bees on the Lavender, so I only managed one shot of the "hummer" which of course was over-flashed.

Birds Recorded:
Herring Gull
Wood Pigeon
Collared Dove
Magpie

It was good to see "stumpy" the Slow-worm in the garden again. The last time I saw "him" was 21 May 23, not that I've been checking everyday.

A lucky shot as this Hummingbird Hawk-moth flew past my legs before flying up and away over the fence.

Still plenty of Marmalade Hoverflies about. This one was on Lemon Balm.

General Shots:

Behind the Lavender and Purple Loosestrife is........

...........the "Tractor Tyre" pond, which oddly seems to be devoid of Palmate Newts!!
