The Grove

Travelling back from Weymouth in the late afternoon, a Peregrine flew overhead close to The Grove, with a pigeon in its talons

Bumpers Lane, The Cuttings, Broadcroft Quarry Lane, Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve and Lower Horse Paddock

Today was a pretty decent day weather-wise and the bird watching was pretty good with three new species for the year. They were a Skylark over the Lower Horse paddock, a female Stonechat in the Butterfly Reserve and a Raven over Bumpers lane.

The main highlight today though, was a Buff-tailed Bumblebee on the flowering Gorse in the butterfly reserve.

The lowlight of my walk was seeing that the owners of the lower horse paddock, have extended their field into the butterfly reserve. I wonder if the Dorset Branch of the UK Butterfly Conservation Group are aware. Hmm!!
