Portland Bird Observatory, Portland Bill and Obs Quarry

With gust up to 58mph, Storm Barra certainly made its presence felt today. With the rain lashing down, it was only until mid to late afternoon, before I could venture out.

As the light was fading I decided to take Ted for a run down at the Bill. Plus with no trees around there was a better chance of seeing some birds.

The best I could do was two Purple Sandpipers on the rocks to the east of the Obelisk.

Birds Recorded:
Cormorant
Shag
2 Purple Sandpiper
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Wood Pigeon
1 Meadow Pipit
4 Rock Pipit
Carrion Crow
Jackdaw
2 Raven
House Sparrow
Chaffinch

It was extremely poor light for photographing birds. Nevertheless there's no mistaking these two Ravens for anything else.

Mushrooms Recorded:
Field Blewit (Lepista saeva).

This is Field Blewit (Lepista saeva). It is an edible Mushroom...............

As I was battening down the hatches in the back garden for Storm Barra's arrival, a Greenfinch flew off one of the feeders. Its been a long time since there's been one in the garden.
