Another overcast day, which actually brightened up on my walk around midday and then clouded up again mid-afternoon.
Yet again the main highlight was the Painted Lady's with around 10 along The Mermaid Track and a couple in The Cuttings Quarry. Also along the Mermaid Track were 4 Red Admirals and 3 Chalk Hill Blues.
Other butterflies noted were a few Gatekeepers, Meadow Browns, Large Whites and in The Cuttings Quarry more Chalk Hill Blues and a couple Common Blues.
A few hoverflies about mainly Marmalade hoverflies plus 2 Hornet Mimic Hoverflies.

Birds Recorded: Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, 8 Swift, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, 1 Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Linnet and Goldfinch.
Butterflies Recorded: Large White, Green-veined White, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, 4 Red Admiral, 10 Painted Lady, Common Blue and Chalk Hill Blue.
Moths Recorded: Six-Spot Burnet moth (Zygaena filipendulae)
Bees Recorded: Honey Bees (Apis mellifera), Common Carder (Bombus pascuorum) and Red-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius)
Hoverflies Recorded: Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus), 2 Hornet Mimic Hoverfly (Volucella zonaria) and Common Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax)
Bugs and Beetles Recorded: Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis)
Grasshoppers and Crickets Recorded: Meadow Grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus) and Common Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus)

The grounds of St Andrew's Church where there were very few butterflies today.
A Gatekeeper was one of a few seen.
A Hornet Mimic Hoverfly
A predated Bloody-nosed Beetle (Timarcha tenebricosa) with a few ants feeding on it.

The Cuttings Quarry where there there were both Common and Chalk Hill Blues. Plus Gatekeeper and 2 Painted Lady's

A Six-Spot Burnet moth
On the way from The Cuttings Quarry to the Mermaid Track my Blackberry plant is coming along nicely.
On both sides of the Mermaid Track there are a good clumps of......
Buddleia bushes.
And down the centre of the track 3 Painted Lady's.
