With high winds, gusting at around 60mph, it was off to The Bill for a sea watch. I got there just before 9:00am and joined another birder who had been "ticking" off the Gannets passing through since 7:00am this morning. His tally was:
7 til 8 - 100 Gannet per hour
8 til 9 - 100 Gannet per hour
9 til 10 - 80 Gannet per hour
Other birds seen, in the hour I was with Pete, were 1 Arctic Skua (My first this year), Kittiwake, Fulmar, Cormorants, Shag, Great Black-backed Gull and Herring Gull.
Back at Portland Bird Observatory I also recorded a single Manx Shearwater
Other birds seen were Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, 12+ Swallow, Rock Pipit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Starling, House Sparrow, Linnet and Goldfinch.
