Ferrybridge

A quick trip down to Ferrybridge and the Grey Phalarope seen here 3 days ago was still feeding in and around the pools close to the top of the car park Here.

Personally I feel there is something wrong with it especially when you note that its tail appears to be at an unusual angle to the rest of its body. Despite its appearance it was very confiding and very mobile, just feeding feet away from other birders and working its way up and down between the pools.

Here are a few images and a couple of videos:

Portland Marina

Having left Ferrybridge I dropped into the marina to check on our boat Star. As I was leaving a Little Egret was feeding close to the footbridge. I took a few photos and a video which shows it eating a Fifteen-spined Stickleback. More on this Sea Stickleback (Spinachia spinachia) Here and Here.

Here are a few images, a video and a slomo video of the mystery fish.

This Little Egret was doing well catching small fish in the marina.

In it goes for another snack.

In this video the Little Egret has caught a Fifteen-spined Stickleback.

A not so brilliant attempt at a slomo video to highlight the Stickleback.

Back in the shallows looking for its next meal.

Ah something has caught its eye and.........

........its off.

Ships Today

This Pilot Boat seems to be in a hurry to get away from something!!!

Ah that would be why. This is the passenger ship "Marina" flying the flag of the Cayman Islands. It is on its way into Portland Harbour from Cork. More on this vessel Here.

Marina being escorted into Portland harbour.
