Obs Quarry, Culverwell, Top Fields and Crown Estate Fields.

This morning it was another walk around "south" Portland looking for Autumn migrants and I didn't do to bad with the following migrants logged: 30+ Swift over the Obs, 150+ Sand Martin, House Martin and Swallow in the Crown Estate Fields, 1 Tree Pipit over the Top Fields, 5 Yellow Wagtail in the Top Fields with 2 in amongst the horses, 2 Wheatear found Here, 2 Common Whitethroat in Helen's Field and 1 Willow Warbler in the Obs Quarry

Not so many Painted Lady's today, but plenty of Small Heath and Large Whites about, plus a Clouded Yellow in the Crown Estate Fields

And finally my first Stoat on Portland with a family making their way through the stubble and brambles in the Top Field Here.

Here are a few images from this morning:

The Obs Quarry where there was ..................

..........this lone Willow Warbler.........

..........feeding in amongst the Brambles. Hopefully in the next few weeks or so we might get a Wryneck visiting the quarry. We can but hope!!

In Southwell the horse field Here was providing these 2 Yellow Wagtails.......

.......plenty of flies.

Mind you they have to keep an eye out for a stray hoof.

Close to the Southwell Barns were these 2 Yellow Wagtails feeding on flies "kicked" up by the horses.

In the Crown  Estate Fields were these Swallows and Sand Martins.

It was quite a large flock of around 150 birds.

In this shot a single House Martin on the wires in the top right corner.

The Swallows, Sand Martins and House Martins gather in the fields before heading south over the English Channel.

In the fields were dozens of Linnets feeding on the Linseed or Flax seeds.

Getting better a record shot of a Swift.

A Kestrel searching for a snack.

A Clouded Yellow flew past and I turned and just fired the exposure button. a lucky shot as I managed to capture it in flight.

Fortunately it landed very briefly for a static shot.
