Blog update
Well I had hoped I would be back home before today's blog was uploaded, but unfortunately it looks like it will be quite awhile before that happens.
So what did happen!
Well at the back end of last year, I was beginning to feel quite breathless on my walks, and even when I was sat down. This carried on into the new year, so I booked an appointment with my local GP in April of this year and she contacted Dorchester Hospital so that they could investigate further.
On Friday 20 September, I had an appointment at the hospital, where they detected a sticky heart valve.
On Sunday 22 September, I was admitted into the Dorchester Hospital Cardiology Department, and underwent lots of tests, X-rays, lung function tests, ECG, ultrasounds, CT Scan etc. etc. during the week.
Having compiled a full medical record on the state of my lungs, liver, kidneys, blood pressure, heart rate etc etc, and more importantly photos of my heart for the surgeon at Southampton Hospital, I got the nod that they were happy to accept me for open heart surgery 😳, to replace the offending valve. So here I am, into my second week.
LATEST NEWS
I'm going home. Yippee!!!
Well sort of.
The good news is, I have just found out today that I will be on the operating table on Monday 14 Sep, at the Spire hospital in Southampton. I can go home today and then on Monday 7 Sep, I'm off to Southampton for a pre-op assessment. And then it is back home until the 14 Sep for the op.
So there we have it and hopefully weather permitting a few daily blogs from home. 😊
