Penns Wood, St Andrew's Church, Penn's Weare, Penn's Copse, Rufus Castle and Bumpers Lane

I was up fairly early this morning and despite it being the first full day of the school holidays, I took a chance that it wouldn't be too busy at the Cove. Wrongggggg, it was very busy. So instead of walking around the cove I cut across to Penn's Weare from the church grounds instead.

The main highlight was seeing my first ever Silver-washed Fritillary. And what an impressive butterfly; just slightly larger than a Comma, it is a very bright orange butterfly.

I managed to see it three times flying about in the grounds of St Andrew's Church, but not once did it land. However I met a lovely lady called Jenny, who had managed to photograph it before I had arrived. She was kind enough to let me photograph the Silver-washed Fritillary from the back of her camera, which is shown below. Thank you Jenny.
