Wakeham

Today was a chill out day in the back garden, apart from building a new gate to stop Ted (AKA Houdini) from escaping. He his definitely a master at it.

2 Azure Damselflies

Butterflies Recorded:
1 Red Admiral

Talk about jumping into my seat. I had literally just got up and this Red Admiral landed on it. It must have heard of the 5 second rule!

Bees Recorded:
Honey Bees (Apis mellifera), Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris), Common Carder (Bombus pascuorum) and a possible White-tailed bumblebee (Bombus lucorum)

I can't see any buff colour between the white and black, so I'm presuming this is a White-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lucorum)

Hoverflies Recorded:
Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus), Dead Head Hoverfly (Myathropa florea), Chequered Hoverfly (Melanostoma scalare) and hoverfly sp.

............. which are very similar to the Semaphore Flies, but I'm not sure what they are.

Bugs and Beetles Recorded:
Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis), Lesser Thick-legged Flower Beetle (Ischnomera cyanea) and a bug sp.

Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis)

A grasshopper I need to ID.

Slugs and Snails Recorded:
Garden Snail (Cornu aspersa) and 2 snails sp.

Two snails I need to ID.

Froghoppers Recorded:
Froghopper sp.

"Cuckoo Spit" on the Lavender and somewhere inside it will be a froghopper.

Plants Recorded:
Gooseberry and a species of nightshade

A Gooseberry bush which appeared a few years back.

We certainly didn't plant it, but it's been a good year, with plenty of "berries" on it

One of the species of nightshades which has been climbing up my neighbours Buckthorn and is now overhanging our garden. As long as its not Deadly Nightshade (Atropa belladonna), but I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Ted:
Now don't be fooled by the sad look, as Ted did have a good walk this afternoon. He's annoyed that I've erected a new gate and stopped him from escaping.
